Paul Sonderfahrzeugbau presents the latest tailored customer solutions and series production swap body lift trucks at IAA Transportation

• The Paul Group continues its success story in special vehicle construction
• At IAA the company will be exhibiting a Daimler Arocs 12x4/8 for heavy-duty concrete pumping and a heavy-duty tractor unit (SLT) that can handle even the steepest gravel tracks, among other innovations
• A production-ready Daimler Econic swap body lift truck (yard transfer vehicle) with parallel lifting system and type approval for road use will also be presented

Vilshofen / Hannover - September 19, 2022 - In the field of special vehicle construction, the Paul Group proves once again how, together with its customers, it can quickly and reliably master their greatest transport challenges. The company is exhibiting some outstanding examples at IAA Transportation in Hannover. For example, it has customized an MB Arocs 4153 8x4/4 with a tailored six-axle 12 x 4/8 chassis that can accommodate a model S 65 SXF concrete pump with a total weight of around 65 tons, made by Schwing. The pump offers increased reach on construction sites, making it suitable for larger projects such as the construction of very tall buildings. Bernhard Wasner, Managing Director of the Paul Group, explains: "We created a recess on the driver's cab so that the 63-meter pump arm can rest folded up without exceeding the permissible maximum height of 4 meters." The chassis is optimally adapted to the size and weight distribution of the pump. The standard model was modified for this so that it now offers 4 steering axles across 6 axles. The wheelbase was extended to 7800 mm and the basic vehicle was extended by 2 axles: a third front axle was installed – with a trailing axle, steered and equipped with air suspension and with a load capacity of 10 tons – also steered and with air suspension, and with a load capacity of 12 tons. The vehicle was also equipped with a starting aid for better traction and residual pressure control of the air suspension in operating mode.

Paul SLT – heavy-duty tractor for the toughest terrain

Paul has created a proven specialist vehicle for even the steepest terrain with the AROCS 8X6/4 SLT. As standard, the Mercedes Arocs is designed for difficult terrain, but it is not available as a heavy-duty tractor unit, or SLT, with low saddle height and gimballed semitrailer coupling (Jost JSK 38G). Paul has now developed an Arocs 8x6 SLT that can be used even on the steepest mountain gravel tracks on sand and scree with standard semitrailers. This transport concept has already proven its worth during complex cable car construction projects in the Swiss Alps. With a chassis height reduction of 150 mm, the AROCS 8X6/4 SLT offers a chassis height of 1,016 mm at the rear after the Paul conversion, allowing it to meet the same criteria as the 8x4 series model.

Production-ready, high-speed Paul yard transfer vehicle with parallel lifting system

In busy haulage yards, speed and maximum precision are required when swap body and semitrailers need moving. Paul's new yard transfer vehicle quickly takes the center stage here: built around the chassis and cab of a Mercedes-Benz Econic, it has an extremely low-lying driver's cab with excellent all-round visibility for fast and safe cab entry and exit. With the parallel lifting system in use, swap bodies can be quickly moved with a lifting height of 500 mm.

The yard transfer vehicle also has type approval for road use and so can be used reliably and safely on public roads at speeds of more than 50 kilometers per hour. When it comes to maintenance and repair, the customary rapid service from Mercedes-Benz provides long-term, reliable support for transport and logistics companies in their daily operations. The Paul yard transfer vehicle is designed for series production and is available for immediate delivery.
